Happy birthday to the versatile actress Swara Bhaskar who is known for her supporting roles in the movies. She was into theatre and street plays during her college days, and this field of art made her follows her passion. She made her debut in Bollywood in 2009 drama Madholal Keep Walking, a commercial failure; however she got recognition in the entertainment industry from her role in romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu. The actress has won two Screen Awards and has been nominated Filmfare Award on three occasions.

#1 Tanu weds Manu
Tanu’s (Kangana) best friend Payal (Swara Bhaskar) is an independent woman and she knows what it takes to live a happily married life. On the other side, she is also stable, sorted in life and she knows how to manage relationship and family expectation. Payal knows Tannu better than anyone else and keeps trying to sort problems from her life. She acts as a support system to Tanu. Doing what she wants to do in life without thinking much about the society, she portrays a feministic character in the movie. Breaking the stereotype in the movie, she gets married to a Punjabi guy (Jassi) without thinking much about the society what they will think.
#2 Nil Battey Sannata
This movie Nil Battey Sannata is a masterpiece by Swara Bhaskar. She is playing the role of a mother (Chanda) in the movie who is willing to put her blood and sweat to make her daughter (Apeksha) pursue further studies. The film garnered critical and audience acclaim as it focused on the brighter side of the story where a mother is doing every bit to support her daughter. Apeksha being immature teenager cannot fathom her mother’s sacrifices. Swara’s character in the movie can also be called feminist as she is empowering her daughter to study so that she doesn’t have to face problems in future. The film might bring tears to your eyes but can also leave a smile on your face by the end of the movie.
#3 Anarkali of Aarah
Swara Bhaskar is playing the role of ‘Anar’ a seductive orchestra singer in a small town of Bihar, Aarah. The films aim at lawlessness and misogyny in the society. Anarkali’s alluring beauty attracts the attention of Dharmender Chauhan (played by Sanjay Mishra). Chauhan takes the stage to express his love for the singer; in return, Anarkali lands a thunderous slap and walks out of the event. After this, she is being harassed by Chauhan’s goon later. Then the story of redemption start and Anarkali exposes Mishra. This dialogue from the is empowering and tight slap to the patriarchal society, “Sabko lagta hai ki hum gane wale log hain..koiyo aasani se bja degaa..par ab aisa nahi hoga".
On the work front, Swara Bhaskar will be seen playing a lead role in romantic comedy Veere Di Wedding co-starring Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Shikha Talsania by Shashanka Ghosh. The movie is about four girls who embark on a trip from Delhi to Europe. The movie will be released in May 2018.
